Astronomski observatorij »Magašov brejg« se nahaja na vrhu enako imenovanega hriba na meji med krajema Fokovci in Ivanovci v obèini Moravske toplice. Beseda "magašov" izvira iz madžaršèine in pomeni "veliki".
Od Murske Sobote je oddaljen 12 kilometrov. Leži na 343 m nadmorske višine na 46 stopinj in 44 minut zemljepisne širine in 16 stopinj in 15 minut zemljepisne dolžine na odprti legi in lepim razgledom na vse strani neba. Svetlobno onesnaženje je zanemarljivo. Malenkost moti le svetloba mesta Murske Sobote na južnem delu neba. Ker pa direkten pogled na Mursko Soboto zastira bližnji hrib lahko pogoje za opazovanje oznaèimo z oceno 4 od 5. S tako nizko svetlobno onesnaženostjo se v Sloveniji ponaša le malo krajev.
Observatorij razpolaga z motorizirano kupolo premera 4,0 m in je eden veèjih astronomskih observatorijev v Sloveniji. Namenjen je opazovanju vseh nebesnih objektov in pojavov in tudi opazovanju sonca.
Pri svojem delu ga uporabljajo tudi èlani astronomskega društva "Kmica" iz Murske Sobote. Na voljo je tudi širši javnosti, šolam, turistom in skratka vsem, ki jih zanima astronomija.
Glede tehnike oziroma optiènih instrumentov, ki bodo na voljo za astronomska opazovanja, v tem trenutku še ne moremo postreèi z konkretnimi imeni. Opremo bomo nabavili v obsegu sredstev, ki jih bomo imeli na razpolago. Zagotovimo lahko le to, da bo šlo za kvalitetno in profesionalno opremo, ki jo bomo postopoma dopolnjevali.
Observatorij obratuje od 11. januarja 2006.
The Magašov brejg Astronomic Observatory is located atop a hill of the same name in the area bewteen the villages of Fokovci and Ivanovci, the Municipality of Moravske Toplice, northeastern aprt of the Republic of Slovenia.
The site is twelve kilometres away from the town of Murska Sobota, at the altitude of 343 m above sea level, at the latitude of 46° 44' 12''and longitude of 16° 14' 45''; it is open in all directions, with a great view of the surrounding area. The pollution of light is negligible, with only the lights of the neighbouring town of Murska Sobota disturbing the night skyline on its southern part; due to the neighbouring hill, screening a direct view of the above said town, the observing conditions can be rated 4 to 5 (out of 5); there are very few places in the whole of Slovenia which can boast as low rate of pollution as that.
The observatory comes fitted with a motor-driven dome with a diameter of 4.0 m which makes it one of the larger Slovenian astronomic observatories. It is intended not only for observation of all celestial objects but also for observation of the Sun.
It is used by the members of the Kmica Astronomic Society of Murska Sobota, in that it is also available for the general public, schools and tourists, in short, for all those who are interested in astronomy.
As regards the equipment, i.e. optical instruments, to be used during astronomic observations, it is not possible at this point for any concrete names of manufacturers to be given, due to the fact that the equipment will be purchased in accordance with the available funds. However, assurances can be given that the equipment will be of professional quality and it will be upgraded gradually.
The observatory has been in opeartion since 11th January 2006.
Das Magašov brejg Observatorium befindet sich auf dem Gipfel desselben Namens, zwischen den Dörfern Fokovci und Ivanovci, Gemeinde von Moravske Toplice, im nordöstlichen Teil der Republik Slowenien. Das Wort 'magašov' stammt aus der ungarischen Sprache und bedeutet 'hoch'
Der platz ist 12 km von der Stadt von Murska Sobota, auf 343 m Meereshöhe; seine geographische Breite ist 46o 44'12'' und seine geographische Länge ist 16o 14' 45''. Seine Lage ist nach allen Seiten offen, mit wunderschönem Ausblick nach allen Seiten. Die Lichtverschmutzung ist vernachlässigbar, an der Südseite wird sie durchs Licht der benachbarten Stadt von Murska Sobota beeinträchtigt. Da der Ausblick auf die Stadt von Murska Sobota von einem benachbarten Hügel verhüllt wird, könen die Beobachtungsbedingungen mit der Note 4 bis 5 eingeschätzt werden, wobei 5 die Höchstnote ist. In Slowenien gibt es wenige Orte, die sich einer derartig niederigen Note Rühmen können.
Das Observatorium wird durch eine motorangetriebene Kuppel mit dem Durchmesser von 4.0 m ausgestattet, wodurch es zu einem der grösseren Observatorien Sloweniens gehört; es wird nicht nur für Beobachtung aller Himmelskörper, sondern auch für Beobachtung der Sonne bestimmt.
Es wird von den Mitgliedern des Astronomischen Vereins Kmica von Murska Sobota benutzt, indem es auch der Öffentlichkeit, den Schulen, den Touristen, mit einem Wort, allen denjenigen zur Verfügung steht, die sich für Astronomie interessieren.
Hinsichtlich der Ausrüstung, bzw. der optischen Instrumente, die zur Verfügung stehen werden, kann zur Zeit nichts genaueres angegeben werden, da sie mit Bezug auf die verfügbaren Geldmitteln angeschaffen werden. Es steht jedoch sicher, daß es sich um eine hochwertige Profiausrüstung handeln wird, die dann stufenweise ergänzt wird.
Das Observatorium steht seit dem 11. Jänner 2006 im Betrieb.
